China urges the United States to conduct a "thorough investigation" into what Beijing claims was a string of incursions into its airspace by US balloons.

It also insisted that the Chinese Coast Guard personnel had "operated with professionalism and restraint" after the Philippines condemned a Chinese security vessel for allegedly using a military-grade laser light against a Philippine patrol boat in the disputed South China Sea.
