In an address and question and answer session at a pro-Taiwanese independence event in the capital Taipei, former US National Security Advisor John Bolton says that "the best way to preserve peace" in the region is "through strength", as he urges a robust approach to the threat of China invading the island. "The more Taiwan is embedded with other countries in collective security, the lower the likelihood that China will take military action," Bolton adds.
