Five local villagers were arrested by the military council’s troops after a bomb exploded near the administration office in Gwe Gyi village, Waw Township, Bago region on November 13, according to locals.

The place where the five detainees were arrested was not yet known. After the blast, military council’s troops opened fire on the village and raided homes of NLD members.

The Waw-PDF claimed they carried out the bombing. The statement said that they did it because the Gwe Gyi village administrator put pressure on villagers and groomed some people as informants (Dalans).
