Bomb explodes near high school in Dawei’s Kanbauk Village

Locals said there was an explosion near a high school compound in Kanbauk Village, in Dawei’s Yebyu Township at 8:00 Am on 4 April.

The explosion was a warning to all Non Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) teachers who are participating in the Military Council organized matriculation exams, according to the Kanbauk Defense Force (KBDF).

The bomb explosion happened near to the KanBauk market fence and the high school but nobody was injured. During the matriculation examination period, there have been three explosions in Dawei District high schools, including one at the Basic Education Department.

Matriculation exams are currently underway across Myanmar, they run from 31 March to 9 April.

During the exams security, both on and off school premises, has been provided by security personnel, health workers, fire officers and ward and village administrators.

According to the Ministry of Education over 312,000 students, of which 200,768 are taking the exam for the first time and 111,500 are re-taking the exam at 1,256 exam centres in 321 townships across the country.
