According to local social organizations, more than 500 people were infected and 12 died from the third wave of Covid-19 in Pathein township, Ayeyarwady Region.

There were two deaths on July 1, four deaths on July 2, two deaths on July 3, three died on July 4 and one person died on July 5 in Pathein township.

A Pathein resident said, " Due to covid-19, the death toll is on the rise every day. The elderly and people with chronic illness are likely to die if they are infected with covid-19. Now we should be more careful not to go out and the infection rate is increasing."

The military council imposed a lockdown in the city to stay at home. Schools are temporarily closed. Markets are only allowed to sell food and medicine.

In Pathein township, 93 cases of Covid-19 were reported on July 5 and so far, 506 cases of Covid-19 were reported in July.
