Falling trees caused significant damage to houses and roads in 25 townships of Yangon Region on 14 May as tropical Cyclone Mocha hit Myanmar, according to the Myanmar junta's Fire Department’s report. The cyclone brought heavy rain and strong winds to Yangon.

As of Sunday night, the Fire Department has reported that Cyclone Mocha, which hit the Rakhine coast, has already impacted Yangon with strong winds, resulting in a total of 45 trees falling in 25 townships across Yangon.

Since around 2:00 in the morning on 14 May, strong winds and heavy rainfall have been pounding Yangon, causing flooding in low-lying areas of some townships. Thanlyin Township reported five fallen trees, Kyimyindaing Township reported four, and Hmawbi Township reported three.

Some townships also experienced one or two trees falling, mostly blocking roads and causing damage to some homes.

In addition, there were power outages in some townships in Yangon due to trees falling on power lines.

A resident of Dagon Seikkan Township said, "There was a power cut today. Trees also fell in two places, and they said power cuts occurred because the trees touched power lines. We got the electricity back this afternoon.”
