The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology under Myanmar's junta issued an emergency statement on Sunday morning, indicating that the outermost circle of Cyclone Mocha, an extremely powerful storm, had started to hit coastal areas in Rakhine State.

The Rakhine State has been designated as red level danger for Cyclone Mocha, with residents in Sittwe already experiencing rainfall at the level of a small storm

Sittwe resident Wai Hin Aung told Mizzima, "Last night, everything was usual. There is a low-level storm this morning. Wind speed is around 60 miles per hour. It's already raining. And there is no power cut right now. We can get electricity now.”

The cyclone is expected to pass through the area between Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh and Kyauk Phyu in Rakhine State, according to weather departments.

According to local media outlets, since the morning, strong winds are blowing and trees are falling due to the effects of Cyclone Mocha in Mangaung Township in Rakhine State.
