Fighters from local defence forces attacked Minywa Police Station in Sagaing Region's Gangaw Township at about 5:00 p.m. on 17 August.

The attack was carried out by a ground force supported by drones operated by the Hyper UAV Force. 

Fighting went on for about an hour and a half, according to a Hyper UAV Force press officer.

"Our Hyper UAV Force provided aerial support using drones. A joint force of local defence groups engaged in close combat [with the police] using small arms and heavier arms. Though we have no confirmation the enemy might have suffered some deaths and damage," he added.

As well as hyper UAV Force, other defence forces involved in the attack included: Htilin PDF, Yaw Defence Forces and the Dragon Brothers Task Force.

As of 18 August, junta forces have occupied an area to the east of Gangaw Township's Eainthit Village and local defence forces have warned locals to avoid the area around Eainthit Village because there may be further fighting there.
