Defence forces launch north Yangon attacks

Defence forces threw two grenades at a junta security post at the entrance of Yangon Golf Club on Khayae Pin Road in Yangon’s Insein Township on 12 September at about 6:00 p.m.

A member of the United Resistance Force (URF) who took part in the attack, said: “There were four military soldiers inside the security outpost, so I threw two grenades at them. There may be causalities.”

He said that the attack had been carried out by the URF and other defence forces based in Yangon.

On the same evening, at about 7:10 p.m., the God Hand Forces urban guerrilla group detonated two remote-controlled bombs at the back gate of the Defence Services Army Recruiting Unit, near to Da Nyin Gone Railway Station, in Shwe Pyi Thar township about a kilometre away from Yangon Golf Club.

A representative from the God Hand Forces said to Mizzima: “It didn’t do as much damage as I thought [it would]. We took our time over this attack but unfortunately, we missed our targets this time because one of the bombs didn’t explode due to a technical error.”

He said junta casualty numbers were not known and all of the God Hand Forces fighters were able to retreat safely without suffering any casualties.
