Dr Sasa says Chin people must be allowed to decide their destiny

The Chin people deserve to be allowed to decide their destiny by themselves according to Dr Sasa.

Dr Sasa, the Special Envoy to the United Nations of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Representative Committee (PHRC) under the control of The National Unity Government NUG, made the comment during a speech he made at the Chin National Day celebrations held in Singapore to celebrate the 74th Chin National Day.

“Let me first say that the Chin people will create their own destiny in Chin history. For almost 900 years, we [the Chin people] have not been ruled by anyone. Chin State is a state that has been ruled by the Chin people who have been creating their own destiny and using their judgment, [to ensure] equality. If you are Chin, you must be brave. If you are Chin, you must be free. If you are Chin, you must be faithful. Chin people must be determined to be equal and to create their own destiny wherever there are Chin people”, said Dr.Sasa in his speech.

He said that successive military dictators, the generals and a group of military troops led by junta leader Min Aung Hlaing have permanently destroyed the people’s destiny, equality and self-determination. So, it is clear that the military dictatorship is the enemy of democracy.

He added that those involved in the current spring revolution are creating their own destiny. The Spring Revolution did not start in 2021, but was born many years ago and has built up momentum till now. As a result, the military dictatorship has been determined to eradicate resistance since the start of the Spring Revolution.

He also called for all ethnic armed organisations (EAOs) and the National Unity Government (NUG) to eradicate the military dictatorship.

"The main objectives of our Spring Revolution are to eradicate the military dictatorship, to create our own destiny for a federal democracy, while at the same ending the military dictatorship and creating a new constitution based on equality and self-determination. [We want] to build a strong federal state based on a new constitution and to achieve equality for all, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, colour, or gender”, he added.
