Mandalay Region Chief Minister Dr Zaw Myint Maung who was arrested and charged, is in poor health in Mandalay's O Bo prison, according to sources.

“Today, Saya Zaw was very ill and his family had to provide him with medical supplies. He is said to be sick because the roof is leaking, and he was caught in the rain. He was allowed to take medicine,” said an NLD member in Mandalay.

Dr Zaw Myint Maung was detained and charged under Defamation of the State Act, Natural Disaster Management Law, the Anti-Corruption law and is being tried in a special court.
