Eight Pyu Saw Htee members killed in Mingin Township, Sagaing Region

Local defence forces killed eight members of the Pyu Saw Htee junta-aligned militia when they raided the Pyu Saw Htee-held village of Kan Kyay in Mingin Township, Sagaing Region, on 28 August at 5:00 a.m.

Amongst the dead was a Pyu Saw Htee commander. Three defence force fighter were also wounded, according to Commander Sayar San of the Student Revolutionary Force (S.R.F), one of the defence forces involved in the attack.

He said: "After conducting a raid on the frontline outpost in the village, we proceeded to raid the house of the Pyu Saw Htee commander. During these operations, a total of eight Pyu Saw Htee members, including their commander, were killed. Furthermore, our side also incurred injuries.”

Two M-2 carbines, two shotguns, 193 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 72 rounds of shotgun cartridges, five boxes of carbine cartridges, 28 phones, and seven motorcycles were also confiscated by the defence forces.

About three hours after the raid junta troops stationed in Mingin Township fired at least ten 120 mm mortar rounds in the vicinity of Kan Kyay Village.

Amongst the defence forces involved in the raid were the SRF and Tain Hlwar Daung Min PDF. Tey were assisted by other local PDF groups.

Local defence forces have been gathering in Mingin Township and they are planning to escalate their attacks on the junta army. SRF has warned local residents to evacuate if they hear the sound of weapons and listen to any guidance given by defence forces.
