The employer of four Rakhine migrant workers working on a duck farm in the Nyaung Nyebin agricultural zone in Hlegu Township of Yangon Region has been charged at Nyaung Nyebin (Ga) police station under Section 340 of the Unlawful Detention Act, according to refugee camp officials.

The four workers wanted to leave their jobs due to overtime and fatigue while working on a duck farm, but their employer did not allow them, and they were locked up.

To bring back these four persons police from Nyaungbin area police station, ward administrator and officials went to the duck farm on January 17 for talks but brought inconvenience that a complaint was lodged against this employer, Joseph, on January 19, said Aye Hlaing, in-charge of the Hlegu refugee camp.

"They have been committed since they were hired, and they could do these things that is what the employer said. I took these four workers nearby.  What the four workers said was that they only hired them for the day time. Not for night work. Now they had worked from 2 am to 4 am after the day time work, so they can't sleep,” said Aye Hlaing.
