Fighting in Myanmar’s Shwe Kokko results in more than 85 junta casualties

Shwe Kokko town in Karen State is under attack by Ethnic Revolutionary Forces causing casualties to junta and border guard forces.

The Little Battalion tactical column of the Kawthoolei Army (KTLA) and another Karen joint revolutionary force started an attack on five bases of pro-junta Border Guard Forces, which were located in Htee Wah P'lor and Htee Kaw Htaw villages, Shwe Kokko, Myawaddy Town, Kayin (Karen) State at around 5:30 am on 5 April, according to the KTLA. 

The two-day battle on 5 and 6 April resulted in the death of more than 85 soldiers from the junta and the BGF, according to reports.

"In fact, we are attacking the places where the junta soldiers are stationed and their associated entities," said an information official of the Little Battalion. "These are their main business locations where they conduct human trafficking, drug distribution and production. There are also disguised casinos where they commit serious crimes. Our raid was targeted towards those places," explained Comrade Anyar Thar, the information official of the Lion Battalion tactical column of the KTLA.

During the battle near Shwe Kokko Town, over 5,000 civilians were forced to flee and 75 weapons of various kinds were seized from the junta's army and the BGF, according to reports

As of April 7, the battle was still ongoing, with the junta's army and the BGF defending with a large force and blocking the entry and exit to Shwe Kokko.
