Four killed, 15 injured in airstrikes on Chin State's Mindat Township

Four people were killed and 15 others were injured when two junta fighter jets attacked Chat Village, in Chin State's Mindat Township at around 11:15 a.m. on 2 July.

Junta airstrikes reportedly destroyed schools, churches and homes in Chat and the nearby villages of Tweyein and SawnTaung, also in Mindat Township.

A villager from Chat Village described the attack saying: 'We were about to have lunch I saw bright flashes like lightning and felt the ground around shake. At first, I didn't hear the fighter jets because
of the noise being made by our generator. After three bombs had been dropped some people ran away and some helped carry the injured. While they were doing that a second attack wave hit. I
believe at least seven bombs were dropped and I counted two jets in the attack.'

He went on to describe the chaos of the attack. 'There were injured people covered in blood. When the airstrike hit children were playing outside so there were many injuries. For now, four people
have been killed and more than 15 injured.'

This is the first time that the villages of Chat, Tweyein, and SawnTaung have been hit by airstrikes.

The villages had not even seen any fighting between junta troops and local resistance forces and many displaced people (IDPs) had decided to take shelter in the villages.
