Four killed and two were taken away in Kale

A resident said that four people were killed and two others were taken to a military hospital as the military council security forces opened fire on a house in Inyagone ward in Kale township at about 8.30 pm on June 19.

Local people said that three men and a woman were killed because more than ten uniformed soldiers from the military council stormed a house in the Inya Kone area.

"At that time, the street lamps still lighted up, so we could see the soldiers. When they came to the front of the house, the voice shouting, "Come out!" was heard after calling names. Then a person who came out of the house was shot. After that, they entered their house and there was a series of gunshots,” said a resident who did not want to be named.

There were reportedly four family members, plus a niece and a nephew at the house where gunmen stormed and fired. Of the three dead men, Win Zaw Oo, Father, was shot and fell when he came out after hearing swearing.

They then shot Zaw Zaw, his 30-year- old nephew, in the living room, and Daw San San Ma, his mother, when she came down the stairs. After that, San Shwe Oo, 26-year-old daughter and a niece, who were in the back dining room, fled in panic when gunmen opened fire again, according to locals.

The two were reportedly shot and taken to a military hospital, but this has not been confirmed.

Thiha Aung, a 23-year-old son upstairs, came downstairs and was shot again by military council troops. A total of four people, including three family member and one nephew, were killed in the shootings. Residents said the bodies were taken away by military council troops the same night.

Local people said that after the gunfire subsided, a military vehicle arrived and confiscated items from the house two times. The riots, which took place around 8:30 pm, did not subside until around noon.

Local people said that Zaw Win Oo and San San Maw who were shot dead by military council troops were supporters of the Union Solidarity and Development Party during the 2020 election.

According to a resident, however, after the military coup, they supported anti-military protests in Kale township. When protesters are confronted with military council troops, they carried car tires to block roads.

A resident said in his view, "We do not know why the whole family was shot dead. I don't know whether the killing of the whole family was due to hostility from the military council. The properties in the house were raided by a military vehicle Twice. It looks like the robbery and murder.”
