German Embassy in Yangon celebrates 30 years of German reunification

On 3 October Germany celebrates 30 years of reunification of East and West at their embassy and online on Facebook.

As the embassy points out, united Federal Republic of Germany stands for freedom, democracy and federalism.

On Unification Day, 3 October 1990, the German Democratic Republic ceased to exist, and five new Federal States on its former territory joined the Federal Republic of Germany. East and West Berlin were reunited and joined the Federal Republic as a full-fledged Federal City-State.

The unification came about after the Soviet Union began to collapse and the Berlin Wall, which divided East and West Berlin, as torn down in a public revolt.

Today, the Ambassador Thomas Neisinger and the German Embassy Team is encouraging Myanmar people to visit its Facebook page to join in the celebrations.
