Guerrillas set fire to Myanmar junta coal tanker on Chindwin River

Local guerrillas reportedly set fire to a Yadana Sein Min coal tanker, owned by the junta military’s Myanmar Economic Holding Company, anchored in the Chindwin River, Northwestern Region Military Headquarters Area, Monywa Township at 8 p.m. on 24 February.

An officer from the Choi Mai Mai Yin Mar Pin Kani Alliance, a guerrilla group, said they set fire to the tanker because “it was owned by junta military leader Min Aung Hlaing”.

About 1,800 metric tons of coal were transported on the tanker. The coal tanker was set on fire ansd the officer in charge of the vessel was warned not to engage in any work involving the interests of the Military Council in the future.

"The tanker caught fire near Kyauk Hmaw village at around 12 p.m. last night. It is not known who set it on fire," a local resident said.

The arson attack was conducted jointly by Choi Mai Mai Yin Mar Pin Kani Alliance and the Homeland Revolution Force.
