Former vice-chairman of Kachin State Hluttaw Khann Lin’s house in Puta-O town, Kachin State was confiscated this week, according to the local witnesses.

The house in Lung Sut ward, Puta-O was confiscated by the Puta-O District Police Commander’s office under the Military Council on 25 May at 3.p.m, locals said.

The former vice-chairman of the State Hluttaw Khann Lin had not been staying in his Puta-O house for more than a year and this is the first time a National League for Democracy (NLD) party member’s house has been confiscated in Puta-O, according to a local resident.

“They confiscated Saya Khann Lin house on 25 May. He is also the vice-chairman of the State Hluttaw so he is staying in Hluttaw housing in Myitkyina Township. After the coup, no one lived in that house from Puta-O anymore. This is the first confiscated house in Puta-O Town. I am so sorry about that,” said the resident.

Khann Lin won the general election in 2015 in Puta-O Township as a representative of the NLD party in Constituency No. 2. He was assigned as vice-chairman of Kachin State Hluttaw for five years and was not arrested during the military coup.

In addition, on the same day, 25 May, the houses of Zaw Thin and Aung Thein, Pyithu Hluttaw representatives of the NLD in Bhamo Township who are currently in the liberated area, have also been confiscated by the Military Council, according to locals.
