A 100-household administrator from Pyigyitakon Township, in Mandalay City was shot and killed on 28 August.

According to locals U San Maung, a 100-household administrator of Thinpankone Ward in Pyigyitakon Township, was shot whilst he was switching on street lamps at around 7:00 p.m. on the corner between Min Ye Kyaw Swar Road and 50th Street in Thinpankone Ward. They said he died on the way to hospital.

"The gunmen opened fire whilst he [U San Maung] was turning on the street lights at night. he was wounded in the cheek and arm. He was taken away by ambulance, I only found out he was dead on the morning of 29 August", said a local from Pyigyitakon Township.

At present, it is not known which group carried out the attack.

There were two other bombs set off in Mandalay City on the evening of 28 August. One was detonated near to a pub in Amarapura Township and the other was detonated near the District Education Administrator's office in Chanmyathazi Township.
