Junta airstrikes deliberately target civilians in Bago’s Kyauktaga Township

The junta has been launching airstrikes on villages in Bago Region’s Kyauktaga Township even though there has been no fighting in the area.

The junta attacked the villages of Nanza and Talaing Khin with three Mi-35 helicopters between 2:30 pm and 3:23 pm on 15 August. Following that, they attacked the villages with drones, according to residents.

But fortunately, there were no casualties in either village.

A witness in Kyauktaga Township said: “Houses in Nanza Village have already been set ablaze, and now junta troops are further demolishing homes through aerial bombardment.”

The junta had already destroyed most of Nanza Village, burning down 119 houses in the village of 200 houses since the beginning of July.

Junta troops have also been firing artillery into Kyauktaga Township every day and two people were injured by artillery fire in Phaltalin Village on the evening of 14 August.

Currently, an estimated 10,000 people have had to flee from Kyauktaga Township due to escalating military tensions in the area, according to the Kyauktaga People's Defence Force.
