Junta troops raided a house in Mawpone Village, in Kachin State's Hpakant Township and burned it down before probably killing the occupants and setting fire to a car.

Locals said that about 30 junta soldiers raided the house at around 11:00 p.m. on 26 August and arrested two of the occupants, Zaw Min Oo and Kular Lay, accusing them of being connected to People's Defence Force (PDF) groups.

Other people who had also been in the house at the time of the raid managed to escape.

According to a local villager, the junta troops alleged that the house was a PDF base and so set fire to it. Then, about 30 minutes later witnesses heard two gunshots.

Residents of Mawpone Village believe that Zaw Min Oo and Kular Lay were shot dead by the troops because no one has heard from them or heard any news about them since the raid.
