Junta lieutenant colonel killed in Chin State's Falam Township

Five junta soldiers including a lieutenant colonel were killed in an attack on a junta army camp at Ri Khawdar in Chin State's Falam Township on 10 August.

“Five soldiers died in the battle, including Lt. Col. Wai Myo Paing. We heard that the dead bodies will be transported by helicopter”, said a representative of Civic Defence Militia (Siyin), one of the groups involved in the attack.

According to the group, they attacked about 50 junta soldiers at 2:00 a.m. on the morning of 10 August and the fighting continued till 7:00 a.m. Many junta soldiers were also injured in the attack and one soldier from the attacking forces was also wounded.

A resident who lived nearby said: "We heard gunfire since before dawn and a fighter jet flew overhead and some people have already fled." They said that after the attack the junta fighter jet flew over them four times before departing in the direction of Thantlang Town.

The joint forces involved in the attack were the Chin National Defense Force (CNDF), Mountain Eagle Defense Force (MEDF), Civic Defense Militia (Siyin) and PDF - Zoland.
