Junta soldiers trash self-help clinic in Shan State’s Laihka Township

Junta troops stole medicine and supplies from a self-help clinic built with donations from locals, before trashing the clinic in Kann Aone Village, in Shan State’s Laihka Township, on 11 and 12 April.

A local resident said: “Around 30 junta soldiers from Battalion 527 based in Mong Payak Township in eastern Shan State entered Kann Aone Village on 11 April. Then, they broke into the clinic. They stayed the night and took medical supplies before they left.”

“The clinic was built with funds collected from [our village and] five other villages and aid from NGOs. They broke the door down and stayed the night. After they left the next morning the whole clinic was a mess. They also took some medical supplies and beds”, he added.

According to reports the medicine and medical supplies taken by the junta soldiers were worth about 1, 500,000 kyats, or over $800.
