Junta spokesman warns if there is a problem in Rakhine, do not blame Military Council

General Zaw Min Tun, a spokesperson of military’s council said at a recent press conference that people should not blame the Military Council if there are military conflicts with the Arakan Army (AA) due to the strong statement released by the AA leader.

Rakhine is currently stable and peaceful compared with other parts of the country but the situation could change due to the Twitter statement by Maj-General Tun Myat Naing, the AA leader.

After the coup, the military tension has risen again between the AA and the Military Council.

Maj-General Tun Myat Naing posted on his Twitter account telling “Commander of Western Command (Rakhine) Maj-General Htin Latt Oo, Don’t go too far” noting he does not care about peace at all. “I will come to your place and seize the Military’s western command base in Ann Township.”

It is unclear why Maj-General Tun Myat Naing from AA issued a public warning to Maj-General Htin Latt Oo, the head of the military’s Western Command.

Major-General Tun Myat Naing said that AA has a good relationship with National Unity Government (NUG) and has provided military assistance to the People Defense Forces and revolutionary forces.
