Junta troops burn down 16 houses in Magwe Region village

Junta personnel burned down 16 houses in Obo Village in Magwe Region’s Myaing Township at around 10:00 a.m. on 5 September, according to local residents.

“Pyu Saw Htee [a military aligned civilian militia] members and Military Council troops set fire to the village at around 10 am in the morning. 16 houses were burned to ashes. The fires lasted almost three hours. We were only able to put out the fires when the military council troops left the village”, a local resident who did not want to be named for security reasons, told Mizzima.

Junta troops and Pyu Saw Htee members have been rampaging through Myaing Township recently. This has forced about 800 residents to flee from Obo and four other villages in Myaing Township.
