Junta troops burn Sagaing’s Zeepintwin villages forcing residents to flee

Military Council troops began burning the village of Zeepintwin, which is about 15 miles south of Kani Township in Sagaing region since 3:00 pm on 25 August till now, forcing residents to flee.

Residents say the troops were quick to burn houses.

“The Military Council column stepped on the two landmines set up by local defense forces before they reached Zeepintwin village. The death toll of junta soldiers is not yet known. The cloud of smoke went up not long after the soldiers entered Zeepintwin village. It is unclear how many houses have been burned down because junta troops have been stationed in the village until now. I think, the loss could be quite high,” a local resident told Mizzima.

According to local people, the Military Council troops are currently stationed in Zeepintwin village and thousands of local residents from Chaungma, Linponeyae and Zeepintwin villages are reportedly fleeing the conflict.
