The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) attacked a group of military council boats going against the current of the Irrawaddy River in Shwegu, according to reliable sources.

The KIA intercepted a group of seven boats entering to Shwegu in Kachin State from Katha

in Sagaing Region, at around 2 pm. Locals said they saw a boat hit in the attack.

Shwe Ku Township is the site of frequent interceptions by the KIA.
