KNU and NLD hold online meeting

Leaders from Karen National Union (KNU) and National League for Democracy (NLD) had an online meeting on 27 May.

They mainly discussed what form a future federal democracy may take and how to overthrow the military dictatorship in Myanmar, according to the KNU spokesperson Pado Saw Taw Nee.

"We [the KNU and NLD] often meet each other to discuss about the progressive and revolutionary matters. We do everything we can to fight the military dictatorship. It is important that the two organisations work together to build a federal democracy in the future and to overthrow the military dictatorship in Myanmar. These are very important matters for us”, he told Mizzima.

This is the third meeting the KNU and NLD have had since the 1 February 2021 coup.

Attending for the KNU were: Vice-Chairman Pado Saw Kwe Htoo Win, General Secretary Pado Saw Tah Do Mu, Permanent Central Committee members - Pado Saw Taw Nee, Pado Saw Tana Htoo Saw, Pado Saw El Kalu. Attending for the NLD were Aung Kyi Nyunt, a member of central working committee and other officials Pado Saw Taw Nee said that following this meeting the two organisations will keep in touch via monthly meetings to help them overthrow the junta and plan for a federal union.
