KWO urges women not to remain silent on being violated

The Karen Women's Organization (KWO) issued a statement on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, stating that any woman in her community should not be silenced by any form of violence.

The White Ribbon Campaign for the Elimination of Violence Against Women runs around the world from November 25 to December 10, for a total of 16 days.

"We call on everyone to have the courage to speak out about injustice and to end all forms of violence against women," the Karen Women's Organization (KWO) said in the statement.

The Karen Women's Organization (KWO) said there are different types of violence against women, and the two most common and serious forms of violence are sexual assault and domestic violence.

The theme of this year's 16-Day White Ribbon Movement is "Eliminate the practice of impunity and end violence against women." Leading activists said that only by eradicating the practice of granting impunity to perpetrators will it be possible to end the violence.

The white ribbon on the chest means that no violence against women will be committed and any violence will be prevented. In Myanmar, the 16-day White Ribbon Campaign has been held annually in various forms by various women's activists since 2011.
