The Mandalay Region People’s Defence Force (MDY-PDF) were given COVID-19 vaccines on 13 February to commemorate the 107th birthday anniversary of General Aung San, Burma’s independence hero.

According to Comrade Moe Kyo, the head of information for MD–PDF, the vaccines were given by two doctors, one nurse and seven MDY-PDF medical staff.

“This is the fourth time we have carried out vaccinations, … the vaccinations were to honour the general’s birthday, and they come from India.”

MDY-PDF fighters have been vaccinated against COVID-19 three times previously, in August, October and December of 2021.

Comrade Moe Kyo said: “We are proud of the general [Aung San]. We will try our best to be like Aung San who sacrificed himself for the people and wanted his country to be united and to develop.”
