A police detective pretending to be a participant in the civil disobedience movement was caught as he penetrated the people defence force of Yinmarbin Township, Sagaing Region.

The spokesperson for the PDF confirmed the news to Mizzima although they have not published it.

The police officer was identified as Si Thu Nyein with identification no. 530869 from No. (2) Police Station in Monywa.

A local source told Mizzima the officer was investigating the activities of local PDF in an arson attack on a toll gate operated by a member of military-backed Union Solidarity and Development Party, near Banbwe village in Yinmarbin township on 23 August. In the incident the manager of the toll gate was killed.
