More than 30 Covid deaths in Mon State’s Mawlamyine township

According to the Mawlamyine Rescue team, more than 30 people have died in the fourth wave of the COVID-19 outbreak in Mawlamyine in Mon State.

COVID-19 is said to be responsible for the deaths of 34 individuals between 6 February and 3 March, according to an officer from the Mawlamyine Rescue team.

There are deaths almost every day due to the COVID-19 virus in Mawlamyine township within one month.

The number of new cases in Mawlamyine, like other cities, are increasing on a daily basis.

In Myanmar, COVID-19 has reportedly killed approximately over 19,000 people, and incidences of the so-called Omicron variant are on the rise. The biggest number of COVID-19 infections occurred in July 2021. Myanmar has been in chaos since last year’s coup.

The country confirmed its first Omicron cases on 28 December. According to the junta’s health ministry since then, several townships in Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Bago, Mandalay and Sagaing regions and Shan State have reported COVID-19 cases.
