Myanmar has arrested 228 members of the Rohingya minority after seizing the boat in which they were traveling near the waters of Sittwe in the northwest of the country, EFE reported.

Seventy men, 125 women, and 33 children were traveling in “the suspicious motorboat” for possible human trafficking, the Global New Light of Myanmar newspaper said.

They were arrested along with the five Myanmar crew members and would be handed over to the police, the newspaper added.
