Myanmar Junta convoy attacked in Bokepyin Township, Tanintharyi Region

One junta soldier was killed and four others were injured when local people’s defence force groups (PDFs) attacked a seven-vehicle military convoy in Bokepyin Township, Tanintharyi Region on 8 October.

The attack happened at about 12:30 p.m. at Warchaung Village as the convoy was travelling in Tanintharyi Region from Pyikyi Manaing Township to Bokepyin Township.

A PDF solder from the 1st Battalion of Kawthoung District PDF, one of the groups involved in the attack, said: “One [junta] vehicle returned to Bokepyin Township as a result of our ambushed attack, leaving four people injured and one person dead.”

PDFs involved in the attack included 1st Battalion of Kawthoung District PDF and Bokepyin township PDF. The attack was part of the Nan Htike Aung offensive.

The Nan Htike Aung offensive is being ramped up and more attacks are being carried out. Because of this local PDFs have warned people to stay away from military junta convoys, members of the military-aligned Pyu Saw Htee militia and any buildings where soldiers or Pyu Saw Htee members are stationed.
