Myanmar junta cracks down on Tamwe strike and arrests four protesters

Witnesses said plainclothes men of the military junta cracked down on a protest march and arrested four protesters on Kyar Kwat Thit road, Tamwe in Yangon on the evening of July 30.

"I saw four arrested people or so. The boys were beaten and taken away. There were three boys and one girl," said one eyewitness.

"As the young men approached Kyar Kwat Thit road, a man in civilian clothes with a pistol grabbed a boy in a white shirt and opened fire on the crowd. I don't know who was shot. The rest ran away,” the eyewitness said.

"And then, they were shouting that they will kill the captured people,” he added.

Shortly after four armed men in plain clothes arrived at the beginning of the incident than people in uniform arrived.

The junta forces reportedly took the mobile phones of people nearby and checked them after the arrests.
