Myanmar junta troops and affiliated Pyu Saw Htee militia forces stormed a village in Shwebo Township, Sagaing Region, forcing the residents to flee from their homes on 8 February.

About 100 members of the armed group entered Seikkhun village around 6 am and arrested some civilians, according to local sources.

"As the military junta’s troops opened fire and entered the village early in the morning, we did not have enough time to take our belongings before we fled from home. About 10 villagers were arrested, and some people were then released. Mostly, the elderly and children were left behind in the village. When they entered Seik Khun village, the nearby villages had to flee,” a local resident told Mizzima.

The military junta troops and Pyu Saw Htee members were stationed in the compound of Seik Khun Village school until 3 pm on Monday 8 February while they were destroying and raiding residential houses in the village.

“They stormed about five houses, while some junta soldiers lay in ambush in the village and shot everything that they saw. In the past, they just entered the village for a short time. There was no such shooting [even] after junta troops had been stationed there for a long time,” said a local resident.

Aung Naing Win, the military junta appointed administrator of four villages: Seik Khun, Seik Thar, Nant Thar, Bo Tel Kone, and his son were known to have been killed at their home on 5 February.
