The Myanmar Army opened fire with three helicopters on Nyaung Pin Gyi Taw village in the eastern part of Wet Let township, Sagaing Region on January 4, according to local people.

Helicopters came to attack and soldiers, who are currently stationed at the monastery in Nyaung Pin Gyi Taw village, were deployed, according to a local resident.

"The first helicopter fired a series of bombs, and then the soldiers dispersed. Now they are invading the village," said Ko Naga, a member of the local People's Defense Force.

Helicopters attacks destroyed some homes and injured some local people. Villagers have fled.

The Wetlet Township People's Defence Force issued a statement that on January 1, a group of local resistance forces attacked the junta troop base in Phayar Lay Kone village in eastern Wetlet Township, killing about 40 soldiers.

During that clash, helicopters were used by the junta to fight back. Junta troops retreated without picking up the bodies of their fallen soldiers.
