Locals reported that People’s Defence Forces (PDF) attacked the No. 28 Police Battalion next on the Pathein-Monywa road in Yinmarbin Township with heavy weapons at 1:00 am on 5 January.

During the attack, the No. 28 Police Battalion’s main building and other buildings in the compound were damaged and at least 5 Military Council soldiers died and many others injured, according to the information officer of Fighter Brotherhood Guerilla Army.

“The battle started around 1:00 am. I think the battle lasted about an hour and a half. We mainly used 60 mm mortar shells, 80 mm and 120 mm heavy artillery shells to attack. The exact number of casualties among the Military Council soldiers is not yet known. As for our soldiers, there were no casualties. The buildings of No. 28 Police Battalion were also damaged," the information officer said.

The battle was jointly fought by the Fighter Brotherhood Guerilla Army, Chindwin Brothers Guerilla Force, Black Shadow-PDF, Black Vote Fighter, Taw Thar Gyi PDF, Tazaukan Bagyan PDF, Mel Hmaung Guerrilla Force, Golden Star Force, Chindwin Revolutionary Fighter (CRF), Regional Friend Fighters (RFF) and the Revolution Youth Group(RYG).
