Myanmar resistance group claims 30 junta troops killed in Sagaing’s Ye-U Township

A People’s Defence Force (PDF) claims they killed over 30 Military Council troops in a battle in Sagaing’s Ye-U Township.

On 11 August at around 7:00 a.m., the Military Council and local PDFs clashed near Kon Tha village, which is about two miles southwest of Sagaing's Ye-U Township. Over 30 junta soldiers were killed in the encounter, and 25 guns were seized, according to the Ye-U PDF.

According to Ko Tamantaw from Ye U PDF, two local PDF fighters were shot and killed in the encounter.

“The battle may have lasted more than an hour. The Military Council soldiers wearing civilian clothers from Infantry Battalion 367 arrived in full force with two trucks, but all were killed because we detonated landmines and used a series of gunfire on the junta soldiers,” Ko Tamantaw told Mizzima.

In response to the clash, the junta ordered fighter jet attacks in three sorties, at 8:15 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and at 1:00 p.m., he added.

The Ye-U People’s Defense Forces and Tabayin People’s Defense Forces jointly carried out the attack.
