The Myanmar authorities have thanked the Thai authorities for the assistance and compensation money given by the Thai government to the families of Myanmar nationals who died in a railway crossing accident on October 11, according to media reports.

Thai Labour Minister Suchart Chomklin said Myo Myint Naing, labour attache at the Myanmar embassy in Bangkok, was thankful for donations made by the ministry and relevant agencies to the victims' families, according to the Bangkok Post.

A total of 19 people were killed and 44 others injured when a bus collided with a freight train at a railway crossing in Chachoengsao last Sunday. Six Myanmar workers, who were on a merid-making trip, were killed in the accident.

Thanks were offered after the Thai ministry paid out 370,888 baht in total, including 50,000 baht per person for funeral costs and the remainder from their pension fund, according to the Bangkok Post report.
