Myanmar woman arrested by Thai authorities after illegally crossing border

A Myanmar woman was arrested by soldiers this week for illegal entry through Sangkhlaburi district in Thailand, according to the Bangkok Post.

The woman, Dee Se, 36, was caught soon after she slipped through a wire fence at a natural border crossing into Nam Kirk village in tambon Nong Lu in Thailand.

She held an identification card as an unregistered person issued by the domicile registration office of Sangkhlaburi district on June 25, 2009. It expired on June 24, 2020.

She has been taken into custody and has been tested for the COVID-19 virus.

A number of new COVID-19 infections have recently appeared in Thailand due to people crossing the border or amongst Myanmar migrants working in factories in the country. Thailand has kept a lid on the spread of the virus and the new cases have sparked anger amongst some Thais who posted negative messages on Facebook.
