Myanmar's border trade with India and Bangladesh falls

According to trade data released by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce Myanmar’s border trade with India and Bangladesh fell by millions of dollars USD in the 2022 to 2023 financial year.

The value of trade across the Indo-Myanmar border in the 2022-23 financial year was $16.395 million USD, a fall of $1.302 million USD on the previous financial year.

Trade across the Myanmar-Bangladesh border in the 2022-23 financial year was $32.552 million, a fall of $1.302 million USD on the previous financial year.

Conversely, Myanmar's border trade with China and Thailand rose in the 2022-23 financial year.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Commerce border trade with China in the 2022-23 financial year was $3,075.77 million USD, a rise of $730 million USD over the previous financial year, and the highest-ever annual figure for border trade with China.

Border trade with Thailand was US$ 5,356 million USD in the 2022-23 financial year, a rise of more than $260 million over the previous financial year.

The border trade through all of Myanmar’s border posts for the 2022 to 2023 financial year was over $6 billion USD. 

Total Myanmar international trade over the same period was over $33 billion USD, over $3 billion more than the 2021 to 2022 financial year.
