Military Council troops raided the state-owned Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE) office in Naypyidaw on 6 July evening and summoned departmental staff including high-position officials for inquiry.

There is speculation that military regime troops raided the office and interrogated the staff members including officer-level staff over claims they may have breached security. It was said that the departmental staff phones were checked and also transportation was restricted.

Mizzima is still investigating the current follow-up situation and the reason the military troops raided the MOGE office.

On 21 July, the United States government sanctioned two state-owned commercial banks: the Myanmar Foreign Trade Bank (MFTB) and the Myanmar Investment and Commercial Bank (MICB).

The revolutionary forces welcomed the United States’ announcement, and demanded further action against the military-affiliated MOGE office. After two banks were sanctioned, the military regime is having difficulty in trading operations, and facing a crisis in the usage of foreign currency. Then the MOGE office raid took place.

The military regime has been arresting and interrogating the dollar exchangers and businessmen recently. The oil and gas enterprise, MOGE office, runs under the Ministry of Electricity and Energy and is located in Naypyidaw.
