Following the attack on a convoy of diplomats from the Indonesia and Singapore embassies in Hsi Hseng Township, the National Unity Government (NUG) has issued a statement.

Below is the NUG statement:

The National Unity Government condemns in the strongest terms the attack that took place yesterday on the envoy vehicles in Taunggyi.

Such attacks are contrary to the principles of the National Unity Government and to our revolution. We are committed to the rules of law and to international principles, including the Geneva Conventions. We will always support the safe delivery of humanitarian aid.

This attack was neither ordered nor condoned by the NUG or by its partners.

The NUG Ministries of Home Affairs and Defence have already started to conduct an investigation into the incident. This will be complicated, as the attack took place in junta-controlled territory. It will be conducted diligently, and with careful regard to both law and fact, and its results will be published in line with our commitment to transparency.
