Over 87,000 residents were affected by monsoon flooding

Over 87,000 residents were affected by monsoon flooding in Myanmar's regions and states since July 11, an official from the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement said according to a Xinhua report.

"At present, there are some 19,000 flood-hit victims left at the shelters in Sagaing, Magway, Mandalay and Bago regions as well as Kachin, Kayin, Shan, Kayah and Mon states," said Daw Phyu Lei Lei Tun, director of disaster management department under the ministry.

From July 11 to Monday, four deaths were reported in Magway region, she added.
