People's Defence Forces (PDFs) attacked junta troops and Pyu Saw Htee militia stationed in Ngwe Dwin Village in Sagaing Region's Ayardaw Township with heavy weapons on the morning of 2 July.

The attack was carried out by a combined force of the Northwest Region Alliance Forces PDF, the Myaung Revolutionary Army (MRA) and other local revolutionary forces.

“At around 5 am on 2 July, our coalition forces split into different groups and raided Ngwe Dwin Village in Ayardaw Township with light and heavy weapons. There were about 100 troops [Pyu Saw Htee members and soldiers] in the village,” said a Northwest Region Alliance Forces PDF official.

“After the clashes, we safely retreated and had no casualties. But, grenades Launchers, bombs, and two drones, were lost”, he added.

He said that two Pyu Saw Htee members were killed and several other junta forces were injured in the attack, but he did not know any further details.

Local residents said that the junta troops and Pyu Saw Htee members stationed in Ngwe Dwin Village had been demanding money from farmers and threatened and tortured villagers.

Locals also said that the four nearby villages of Thale Bar, Sin Ta Le, Seik Phu Gyi and Zabar Dwin are under the control of the Pyu Saw Htee militia.
