Plans underway to reduce number of Covid-19 treatment centers

The number of Covid-19 cases has dropped from thousands to hundreds recently and plans are underway to reduce some of the Covid-19 treatment centers currently open in Yangon Region, said Dr Zaw Wai Soe, Rector of the Yangon University of Medicine (1) and Vice-Chairman of Yangon Region COVID-19 Protection, Control and Treatment Coordination Committee.

"I mean, it will be closed on a stand-by basis. For example: Yankin College of Education, University of Culture, The Covid-19 Centers in Hlaing and Hlaing Myat Lay will be closed gradually and will be closed on a stand-by basis. We can reopen it if necessary.” said Dr Zaw Wai Soe.

“But I think this is a gradual reduction, and the operation procedures will take at least two years or three years. It will take two or three years of receiving Covid-19 vaccine, treatments and completely controlling Covid-19. That is why I am talking about the plan over two or three years. Today, I am not saying that things will change in one or two days,” Dr Zaw Wai Soe said.
