Protest leader arrested in Taungtha Township

Kyaw Htet Wai, the protest leader from Yone Pin Village, Nang Tae Tract, Taungtha township Mandalay region, was arrested by the military council troops and tortured to threaten the entire village, according to locals.

He was detained in the interrogating centre by military council troops and taken to the village and tortured on November 22, according to a source close to the protest leader.

A local close to him told Mizzima that 21-year-old Kyaw Htet Wai, along with 19-year-old Phyo Wai Kyaw, had there hands tied behind their back, beaten and taken away by junta troops on the east road of Chaungzon village on November 21.
