The number of journalists jailed around the world hit a new record in 2021, according to the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists, with China and Myanmar having put a quarter of the 293 media workers behind bars. "This has been part of a trend of creeping authoritarianism around the world," CPJ's Deputy Executive Director Robert Mahoney says in an interview with AFPTV.
